Scott Schnell
Chief Executive Officer
Scott Schnell is co-founder and CEO of MedZed, a field-based provider serving the hardest-to-reach Medicaid members, many of whom are among the highest-risk and highest-cost. Since founding MedZed in 2014, Scott has worked with managed health plans to develop approaches for finding and engaging members who traditional outreach fails to reach, addressing barriers to care and helping improve health outcomes while reducing avoidable healthcare utilization and costs. An entrepreneur for several decades, Scott has started, grown, led and sold multiple companies. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan.

Cream Pepito
Chief Technology Officer
Cream supports MedZed’s mission by leading technology strategy and innovation that help make care delivery more connected, scalable, and people centered. With experience spanning healthcare, digital commerce, software engineering, architecture, and product management, she brings a unique ability to bridge technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes in rapidly evolving environments.
Throughout her career, Cream has focused on building high-performing teams and developing practical technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, strengthen collaboration, and support better experiences for both organizations and the people they serve. Prior to joining MedZed, she held leadership roles at RubiconMD, Oak Street Health, Tuft & Needle and Northwestern Mutual. She holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of the Philippines.
Enrique Balaguer
Chief Growth Officer
Enrique is responsible for go-to-market strategy, sales, and delivery of MedZed’s groundbreaking Medicaid member engagement solutions. His career as a healthcare executive, sales leader, and social entrepreneur spans a broad range of organization types. including early-stage startups, Fortune 500 companies, and nonprofits. Balaguer holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from Boston University and a Master of Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley.
Alex Schmidt
Chief Financial Officer
Alex oversees the Finance, Accounting, and Technology functions. He leads MedZed's financial strategy initiatives, with a particular focus on leveraging data to support other functional areas and drive sustainable growth and profitability.
Alex has nearly a decade of experience investing in the healthcare sector, with an operational focus on middle-market companies. His investment experience includes roles at TT Capital Partners, Healy Capital Partners, and Bailey & Company. He has a strong track record of investing in and helping build founder-led healthcare technology and services companies, with a particular emphasis on improving the quality of patient care while reducing costs.
Alex earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Finance from Marquette University.

Stacy supports MedZed’s mission by leading the organization’s people strategy, with a focus on building an engaged, high-performing culture that enables teams to thrive while delivering meaningful impact for the communities MedZed serves. With extensive experience in human resources, organizational design, and talent development, she brings a strategic approach to attracting, developing, engaging, and supporting employees while aligning people and culture with organizational goals.
Throughout her career, Stacy has focused on developing strong teams, fostering collaborative and mission-driven cultures, and designing people strategies that help healthcare organizations grow and evolve. Prior to joining MedZed, she served as Chief People Officer at NeueHealth and held senior human resources leadership roles at Magellan Health and Cigna. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Labor and Industrial Relations and a master’s degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resources from Penn State University.

Greer Rios
Chief Operating Officer
Greer supports MedZed’s mission by leading operational strategy and building the infrastructure needed to deliver consistent, high-quality results as MedZed grows. With more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, she brings expertise spanning operations, program management, implementation, business development, and technology, as well as a practical approach to translating strategy into execution and solving complex operational challenges at scale. Throughout her career, Rios has focused on building strong teams, improving operational performance, and developing scalable systems that keep organizations connected to the people and communities they serve. She began her career in social work and holds an Executive MBA from Colorado Technical University and a bachelor’s degree in social work from George Mason University.
Dana Miller-Martinez
VP, Quality
Dana leads MedZed’s quality initiatives to support best-in-class member care and facilitates interdepartmental collaborations to maximize performance on key quality indicators across the enterprise. In addition, she oversees auditing of MedZed’s internal operations and adherence to external programmatic requirements. With over 20 years of experience in public health data analytics, Miller-Martinez excels at using data to identify areas for quality and operational improvement programs, helping clients drive down utilization costs, address member social needs, and improve member health outcomes. She is passionate about strategies that promote whole-person care and strives to ensure our most vulnerable populations can access comprehensive resources and care. Miller-Martinez holds a BS from Duke University and an MPH and PhD in Public Health from UCLA.
Daniel Zimmerman
VP, Product
Daniel leads product strategy at MedZed, driving the development of intuitive, human-centered technology that supports frontline care teams and improves member outcomes. He focuses on enhancing care coordination, streamlining workflows, and enabling scalable delivery across ECM and Community Supports. Daniel brings deep experience in healthcare product development, building solutions that translate operational needs into impactful, real-world tools. He is passionate about creating systems that empower care teams and improve patient experiences. He holds a Master of Engineering in Information Engineering Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Faulkner University.
Carisha Cabasa, DNP, RN
VP, Clinical Care and Operations
Carisha leads the integration of clinical excellence and operational rigor at MedZed. She has over 25 years of experience in healthcare with a proven track record in strategy, operations, customer success, business development, change management, and organizational leadership. Prior to joining MedZed, she held leadership roles at Myia Health, TransformativeMed, Life Image, Healthways, Cerner, Kaiser Permanente and is the founder of VanzHealth. Carisha holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Creighton University where she serves as adjunct faculty.

Nancy Vargas
Director, Strategic Implementations
Nancy supports MedZed’s mission by helping bridge technology, operations, and clinical teams to design systems that make care more connected and people centered. Having grown within the organization over the past six years—from a Community Health Navigator to a strategic leader—she brings firsthand understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by teams and members alike.
With an educational background in serving diverse populations, Nancy approaches her work with empathy, curiosity, and collaboration. She is passionate about developing practical, sustainable solutions that empower staff, strengthen community partnerships, and ensure that every innovation keeps people at the heart of MedZed’s work. She holds a degree in International Affairs from Eastern Washington University
